Peru held Round 2 of the presidential elections this week and Ollanta Humala will become the new President on the 28th of July. Many people are fearful of the future under his leadership, all we can do is remember to pray for those in authority, as God’s word tells us to….

The children who attend the Happy Hearts kids club have finished the current set of books and learned many memory verses. Before they begin the next series, there is a competition with prizes and this brings the opportunity for Miriam and Dinger to visit many homes. Please pray for them as they have the chance to share with the parents what their children have been learning in recent months – it is such a great time to spread the Gospel! Pray also for these precious little ones, that they will continue to have a love for the Bible and experience God’s love and faithfulness to them.
Miriam is thrilled to report that on Mother’s Day she won a hamper – a hamper is given every year and they draw names out of a bag and hers was chosen! Her desire was not to keep the items of food for her family, but to give them to a needy family in the neighbourhood who have been struggling lately. Then the next day, she received news from a marketing research company to inform her that she had won a second hamper of their goods! We rejoice at God’s provision in the most unexpected ways!

We have recently set up a system whereby if you purchase goods online and you go to the retailer through a link Hope and Song to Freedom receives a donation. Please watch this space for further details in the next few days.
This Sunday is Mother’s Day in Peru (8th May). It is a difficult day for the ladies in prison, who are separated from their families. Some will receive a visit, others won’t. Please pray for them. It is also an anniversary for HSF – 7 years ago the link between women in Peru and England was formed. What a lot has happened in that time! We have much to celebrate and pray that we will continue to be a blessing to those who need us.
Please continue to pray today for the elections that are taking place that there will be a positive outcome for those we work with
Today is Saturday, which means that the Happy Hearts Children’s Club will have taken place in Lima. Please remember to pray for this very important work, as many children come along weekly to have fun and learn more about God. Many of them will be settling into the new school year. Pray for Dinger as he leads them and all the family as they are involved in caring for these little ones.
Peru’s presidential elections take place on Sunday 10th April. This is a very important time for the country as there will be a change of government. Please pray that whoever is elected will bring about positive change for the country and care about the injustices that are still present in that nation.
The summer holidays are over in Peru now and many children have gone back to school. This means an extra burden on the parents, who have to find the money for stationery. For those who have left school and want to continue their studies, life is particularly hard and for this reason, many of them are unable to pursue a course of study which would help them in their future career. HSF seeks to help with education costs where possible. We welcome fundraising ideas so we can help more young people to get a good education. If you have any ideas we would love to hear from you!
